Arson attempt tips police off to illegal guns and pineapple-shaped drugs

Four people were arrested after a vehicle on fire led police to a cache of guns and drugs in Prince George, B.C.

On Nov. 29, police say patrolling RCMP officers saw a man light a vehicle, later determined to be stolen, on fire and then try to escape in a waiting taxi, along with three other people.

All of the passengers were arrested after police found a loaded firearm, as well as suspected drugs, including fentanyl, meth and cocaine.

It happened off of Victoria Street in the VLA neighbourhood of Prince George, near McCullagh Ave.

The discovery of those drugs and the loaded firearm were enough for the police to get warrants to search the residence of one of the suspects, RCMP said.

There, they discovered more loaded guns and rifles, as well as ammunition and silicone moulds “that appear to have been used to press illicit drugs into candy-like shapes,” according to Prince George RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

Three of the four suspects have been arrested pending charges, while the fourth remains in jail until his next court appearance for approved charges, which include arson, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
