59-year-old Surrey man charged with sexual assault of a minor: RCMP

A 59-year-old man is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual interference with a person under 16, after a more than year-long investigation by the Surrey RCMP.

Police say they were first called to the Gurudwara Dukh Nivaran Sahib Sikh temple on 68 Avenue last May for reports that a temple employee had allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl.

Ajastar Singh has now been charged and released, pending a court appearance.

The conditions of his release dictate that he is not allowed to go anywhere where he may have contact with children under 16, including at work or while volunteering.
