City Council met this week to hear and discuss a variety of topics during Council, and Standing Committee on City Finance and Services.

Tuesday, July 11

This week’s Council began with a moment of silence for the passing of Merritt Councillor Claire Newman who unexpectedly passed away on July 5, 2023. 

Following this, Council proceeded with the meeting and approved the following reports and referral reports on consent:

After that, Council approved the following reports:

The report Renewal of the Heritage Energy Retrofit Grant Program (56 KB) was referred back to staff for further consideration.

Council then approved By-laws 1-9 (2.4 MB), and the following administrative motions:

On Tuesday evening, a Public Hearing was held where Council approved:

Wednesday, July 12

The Standing Committee on City Finance and Services began with the approval of the following reports on consent:

After that, the Standing Committee approved the following reports and member’s motions:

The member’s motion Ensuring a Net Increase in Dignified Supportive Housing Units by Renewing Leases or Finding New Sites for Temporary Modular Housing While New Supportive Housing is Built  (203 KB) was not approved.

A Council meeting was convened immediately following the Standing Committee meeting in which Council approved the recommendations and actions of the preceding Standing Committee on City Finance and Services.

Thursday, July 13

A Public Hearing will convene on Thursday, July 13 at 1pm, for Council to consider the following items:

The next regular meeting of Council is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 9:30 am.
