TransLink says the Pattullo Bridge between New Westminster and Surrey will be closed on Sunday night to allow for an inspection.
Between July 14 at 10 p.m. and July 15 at 5 a.m., both lanes will be closed for what the transit service calls a “detailed railing inspection from the bridge deck.”
TransLink says the inspection will be carried out by a “snooper truck” — a vehicle with a long arm and aerial work platform that reportedly takes up multiple lanes of traffic.
“This routine inspection is needed as part of the ongoing maintenance program for the Pattullo Bridge,” said TransLink.
The service says drivers are encouraged to take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges as alternatives. It says any N19 NightBus trips affected by the closure will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges between New Westminster and Scott Road stations.
