A B.C. man lost his life when he was hit by a car last week in Washington.
Freddy Blondel, a loving husband and B.C. Sheriff was driving his motorcycle when he was hit by an oncoming car on June 23, at 2:21 p.m.
In a social media post, the BC Sheriff Service called Blondel honourable and said he will be missed by all who knew him.
A fundraiser, “In loving memory of Freddy Blondel“, was started on GoFundMe by Sonia Pereira, a friend of Blondel’s wife. Pereira says his wife, Lucy Blondel, needs financial and emotional support to get through this tough time.
“First as she grieves, and then as she starts to process losing the love of her life,” Pereira said. “This money is meant to relieve any financial stress during that time and go towards things like food, funeral expenses, and any bills incurred by her not working.”
So far, the GoFundMe has raised over $18,000.
In the fundraiser’s description, Pereira shared a Facebook post that Lucy had written. Lucy says this was the “most devastation” she has felt.
Lucy says Freddy was a “genuine, kind, sweet, charismatic, selfless goofball you could ever meet.” She says he was her adventure buddy and riding partner.
“We finally had our lives together, buying our dream house and making plans for the future. We celebrated our wedding anniversary on Friday 2 years from our most incredible Italian wedding,” she said. “He loved his family and friends deeply and would do anything for anyone.”
“I will never find another Freddy.”
According to the GoFundMe post, Freddy’s funeral is set for Saturday, July 13 in Kelowna.
