Pedestrian sent to hospital after being struck on Ironworkers Bridge, Mounties say

The North Vancouver RCMP says a pedestrian suffered a head injury and is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle near the Ironworkers Bridge Saturday evening.

“A driver reported that he’d struck someone who was dressed in dark-coloured clothing,” Corp. Ian Sim told CityNews.

“That pedestrian was walking across the highway at the end of the bridge.”

This incident was reported just before midnight, he says.

Sim says the pedestrian was taken to hospital for a head injury and is in critical condition.

“I don’t have an update, so we’re in touch with the hospital for any updates,” he told CityNews just before noon Sunday.

“It could be a number of hours still or longer. As yet, to my knowledge, we don’t have an identity either.”

Alcohol, drugs, and speed aren’t considered to be factors in the incident, Sim says.
