The Vancouver Canucks are continuing to take care of off-season business.
After re-signing Filip Hronek and Mark Friedman to new contracts in each of the past two days, today they got two more players to put pen to paper.
A pair of prospects have re-signed one-year, two-way deals, in forward Linus Karlsson and defenceman Cole McWard. Both Karlsson and McWard played the majority of last season in Abbotsford, but they did see some NHL action as well.
Karlsson, 24, led the Abbotsford Canucks in scoring with 60 points in 60 games. He made his NHL debut on November 16 and wound up playing six games with Vancouver, including two in the playoffs. Last season was just the second pro year for Karlsson in North America after the 6-foot-1 Swede starred in the SHL in 2021-22.
Last season was McWard’s first full season of professional hockey after two years at Ohio State University. The 23-year-old scored 17 points in 57 AHL games with Abbotsford. The 6-foot-1 blueliner also played one game at the NHL level, with Vancouver.
