Three seniors were taken to hospital with unspecified injuries after a fire in Pitt Meadows Saturday.
Pitt Meadows fire crews responded to the fire at approximately 3:30 a.m. at Ford Road Housing Co-op.
Stephan Drolet, Pitt Meadows fire chief, says crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the first floor of the building, and an aggressive fire attack was able to contain the fire within two units.
The fire chief says that three residents suffering some injuries were transported to a local hospital — everyone else is safe.
“All the residents were evacuated and have been gathered at the reception center that we have opened at the Pitt Meadows Recreation Center,” Drolet said.
Drolet says the cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation. He says fire crews are on the scene along with Maple Ridge Mutal Aid.
“We have a restoration crew on scene to assess the viability of the building,” he said.
