A new poll released just five months before the next provincial election shows the BC NDP is still leading over the BC Conservatives and BC United.
The poll of 800 adults in B.C. by Research Co. shows that 42 per cent of those who have already decided on their vote will be voting for the incumbent party, with 32 per cent voting for the Conservatives.
The NDP is down three points since Research Co.’s last polling in April, while the Conservatives are up by five points.
Meanwhile, the current official opposition — BC United — is now tied in third position with the BC Greens, with 12 per cent of those surveyed planning to vote for Kevin Falcon’s party.
“In May 2023, a third of decided voters in British Columbia (33%) were supporting BC United,” says Mario Canseco, President of Research Co. “A year later, the proportion has fallen by 21 points.”
“Only 35% of decided voters who supported the BC Liberals in the 2020 provincial election under leader Andrew Wilkinson are staying with BC United in 2024. More than two-in-five (44%) are now backing the BC Conservatives, while more than one-in-ten (12%) would cast a ballot for the BC NDP,” Research Co. explained.
