Mission man stabbed after fishing

Mission RCMP is investigating an alleged stabbing which took place Thursday night near the intersection of North Railway Avenue and Lougheed Highway.

Mounties say they got call around 10:30 p.m. about a man who had been stabbed while crossing train tracks after fishing in the Fraser River.

Police say the man finished fishing for the night and walked towards the train tracks. When another man approached him, the two had an “altercation,” and the suspect reportedly stabbed the victim in the arm before running away.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect has not been found. He is described a as 5’7″ tall with a short buzz-cut hairstyle. At the time of the attack, he was reportedly wearing a dark grey hoody and grey pants and had a bicycle with him.

The Mission RCMP is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 604-826-7161, citing file 24-5605.
