The Coquitlam RCMP is sharing a video of a recent incident where a drive-thru worker was spit on by a customer in hopes of identifying the suspect.
Mounties say during the night of May 1, a man attempted to order food in the MacDonald’s drive-thru on Barnet Highway while riding an electric scooter.
When told he couldn’t order food as he wasn’t in a vehicle, the suspect allegedly spat on the employee through the window.
Corp. Alexa Hodgins tells CityNews that police take any reports of violence, especially workplace violence, “very seriously.”
“All workers have the right to feel safe while they’re at work. Spitting at an employee during the course of their duties is considered assault and we [are] investigating accordingly,” she said.
Police describe the suspect as between 30 and 40 years old and with a dark short beard. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a light gray bicycle helmet, a dark jacket with two white stripes down the shoulder and arms, a light blue shirt, dark pants, and a dark backpack.
“We’re asking anyone who may recognize this man to contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550,” Hodgins said.
