Coquitlam RCMP recovers $50,000 of sports memorabilia stolen from storage locker

Mounties in Coquitlam say they have recovered over $50,000 of sports memorabilia that was taken from a storage locker.

Police say the memorabilia was stolen from a locker at a storage facility near Fawcett Road and United Boulevard as part of a series of break and enters in lockers at the same location.

The thefts are thought to have happened in late April into the beginning of May, and the RCMP says they believe there may be other victims.

“Since the storage lockers are infrequently visited by their owners, an exact timeline of the offences is unknown,” said Corp. Alexa Hodgins, media relations officer.

“Police believe that there could be more victims who are unaware that their items have been stolen and are encouraging the public to check their storage units.”

The RCMP says it is thankful for those members of the public who reported the crimes, because this is what led to the recovery of the property.

“We want to remind the public to maintain detailed itemized lists of everything in their lockers, visit their storage lockers frequently, and report any suspicious activity as soon as they notice or encounter it,” Hodgins said.

Mounties ask anyone who may have any information about these break and enters to call them at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2024-10550.

Police are still investigating the thefts.
