This tulip festival in BC with 10 million blooms will whisk you away to Europe this spring

Calling all flower lovers! Has dancing through rows of colourful tulips with a windmill rotating in the distance always been on your bucket list?

If so, you don’t need to go to the Netherlands (or even leave the country) to cross it off.

This spring, you can visit a huge tulip field in B.C. with rows of colourful blooms that will transport you to the fields of Amsterdam.

A massive tulip festival is launching in the Lower Mainland region of B.C. this spring, with endless opportunities for photos and experiences frolicking among colourful blooms.

Formerly known as the Chilliwack Tulip Festival, the Harrison Tulip Festival will be kicking off this spring, promising millions of flowers for a spectacular event.

The festival, which organizers say has the largest tulip field in Western Canada, started in 2006, in Agassiz, B.C., where it was held for 10 years. It was then moved to Chilliwack and operated as the Chilliwack Tulip Festival from 2016 to 2023.

Now, the festival has moved to Agassiz to a new farm located near the Harrison Hot Springs, less than an hour and a half from Vancouver.

The festival will be launching in April 2024, though exact dates are still to be announced. According to organizers, the event will feature 10 million tulips, with over 30 different varieties blooming.

Visitors can also enjoy the farm’s three acres of specialty double daffodils, and hyacinths, both of which come in multiple varieties.

New for 2024, the festival will have a two-acre “show garden and display area” with over 50 varieties of tulips, more than 10 varieties of hyacinths, and fritillaria plants set among mature fruit, nut and flowering shrubs with grass walkways throughout.

There will also be two on-site food trucks, with one serving up Stroopwafels, a Dutch delicacy that will further add to the European quality of the experience.

Set up around the field, there will also be plenty of photo ops, including a windmill, Dutch bikes, and swing sets. Of course, you’ll also have the surrounding mountain vistas serving as the perfect backdrop for photos.

If you want to take some flowers home with you, you can find fresh-cut greenhouse tulips and hyacinths, potted tulips and other souvenirs at the farm’s store.

Tickets will be available both online and at the gate during the event. You can purchase a season pass online with special early-bird pricing until April 1.
