May 8 2024 –
The City is rallying communities to cheer on the Canucks to victory through Round 2 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs and beyond with a series of viewing events for fans of all ages.
Starting this Sunday, Oak Meadows Park will come alive with the sounds of “Go, Canucks, go!” as the City of Vancouver and Park Board host Playoffs in the Park, a free, family-friendly public viewing area for the Playoffs.
The viewing area will be set up in the north end of the park at Oak Street and W 37th Avenue, with enough room for 2,000 people to bring a blanket and settle in to watch the action on a big screen. Porta potties will be available and sanitation services will be increased to maintain a clean, usable park space for everyone.
Select community centres across the city will be showing the games in their lobbies, giving locals the chance to gather with their neighbours through the playoffs.
An additional viewing area may be added for future rounds, depending on interest. The City is also planning an outdoor licensed public viewing experience for home and away games at the PNE starting in Round 3, with capacity for 6,000 fans.
“The playoffs are all about bringing people together,” said Mayor Ken Sim. “Whether you’re a die-hard fan or getting swept up in the Canucks spirit for the first time, head to Oak Meadows, pull up a chair with your neighbours or (hopefully) raise a beer at the PNE. It’s time to turn the city blue and green and cheer on the Canucks to victory while creating fun memories with friends and family.”
“We’re so pleased to be hosting these viewing events at our community centres and at one of our much-loved parks,” says Park Board Chair Brennan Bastyovanszky. “These spaces are the perfect settings for Vancouverites to safely gather, connect and celebrate the Canucks’ incredible playoff journey.”
The first game to be shown at Playoffs in the Park will be the Vancouver Canucks vs. Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, May 12. Home and away games will be played on the big screen, rain or shine, for everyone to enjoy. Here is the full schedule of events:

Tips for Playoffs in the Park
- Street parking is limited. Walk, bike, roll, or take transit whenever possible.
- Give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to go.
- Stay ahead of road closures at vancouver.ca/road-closures.
- Follow all detours and abide by “No Parking” signs in the area.
- Don’t let waste become litter. Dispose of your waste in the nearest garbage or recycling bin.
- For group gatherings, plan ahead and use the “Pack-In, Pack-Out” method. Bring waste home with you so it can be sorted into the proper stream.
- Be considerate of the community and keep noise to a minimum when leaving games.
