A two-vehicle crash has sent multiple people to the hospital and shut down parts of a major highway.
The Surrey RCMP says the south-east lanes of Highway 99 will be closed for several hours at the Highway 91 junction.
Police were called out to the crash around 4 a.m. after a Ford Sedan was travelling the wrong way down the highway and struck a Mercedes Sedan.
The 68-year-old driver of the Ford was taken to the hospital with possibly life-threatening injuires.
The other driver and their passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuires.
Police say alcohol and a pre-existing medical condition are believed to have contributed to the crash.
Mounties are asking anyone with any information about the incident, including dash cam footage, to call them at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-59328.
