Police ask for witnesses after fatal stabbing in White Rock Tuesday

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is asking for witnesses to come forward after a fatal stabbing in White Rock on Tuesday night.

IHIT says it is also looking for dashcam footage from anyone in the area between 8 and 10 p.m. on April 23.

“If you were parked here, even if you don’t think that your car was recording, please do contact us,” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti said.

“You never know what could have been captured. We have forensic experts that can come out and look at your vehicle and assist in downloading that footage if it is there.”

26-year-old Kulwinder Sohi was with a friend near Marine Drive, just east of Dolphin Street, when he was stabbed just before 9:30 p.m.

Police say a review of video evidence shows there were many witnesses in the area at the time of Sohi’s death, as well as the victim possibly trying to chase down his attacker before dying.

Pierotti, who was on scene speaking with reporters Friday, says the promenade was very populated with several cars parked in that area when the deadly attack happened.

He says they would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time, including anyone who may have walked along the promenade — even if it was earlier in the day.

“You may have seen something that can contribute to our investigation,” he said.

He adds that investigators still haven’t definitively linked the fatal stabbing to another random attack at the pier Sunday night that injured a newcomer to Canada.
