If you are planning to drive on the Cambie Bridge Friday night, you may need to find another route.
The City of Vancouver says the bridge will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday for “filming of a major motion picture.”
“Traffic will be closed in both directions from 7th Avenue to Beatty Street,” it said.
Drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists to and from downtown are being asked to find alternate routes. The city says, during the closure, transit buses will also be rerouted.
It adds residents may hear noises from drones and see lights from cranes, which will be used during filming.
“The city strongly supports Vancouver’s thriving film and TV industry, which creates major economic and community benefits for local residents and businesses,” the city said.
Officials have not specified what movie is filming on the bridge.
Additional traffic impacts this weekend
With the Stanley Cup Playoffs continuing this weekend, the city is reminding Vancouver residents, visitors, and businesses that downtown traffic may be slower on game days.
Puck drop for Game 3 of the first round between the Canucks and Predators is taking place at 4:30 p.m. on Friday in Nashville, but Rogers Arena is opening for an away game viewing party, with crowds expected around the facility.
“Please plan ahead and anticipate delays. Whenever possible walk, bike, roll, or take transit to and from downtown,” the city said.
