Crane incident at Cambie and 41 street

Fire crews were called to the 5800 Block of Cambie Street, Oakridge Park development site at 41st and Cambie street, for a crane incident at 2:56pm on Wednesday, February 21. A crane lost its load while lifting it, falling from approximately 30 storeys up, and striking the building on the way to the ground.

Technical rescue members and additional firefighters were on scene securing loose building material from falling and assisting in the evacuation of 1,700 to 1,800 workers on site. Unfortunately, 1 person was killed at ground level from the fallen load of the crane; no other injuries reported.
