Most fun and hilarious Super Bowl prop bets you can make

After months and months of NFL football, we’ve finally made it to Super Bowl week.

With the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles meeting in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII just two years ago, it’s shaping up to be a football game for the ages.

But as just about everyone knows, the Super Bowl is as much a spectacle for everything happening around the game as is the game itself.

And if you’re heading to a party for it, you might feel inclined to put a wager on a few extracurriculars around the game.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers all sorts of novelty prop bets for this year’s Super Bowl, which kicks off this Sunday at 6:30 pm ET/3:30 PT at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome.

From before the game begins to the postgame celebrations, there’s a whole host of options around the big game this year.

National anthem, coin toss, and even the weather

The over/under for Jon Batiste’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner is set at 120.5 seconds.

But it’s not the only anthem-related bet you’ll find: you can also find odds on how long the final “brave” lyric will be held, if Batiste will perform with a piano, and if a coach/player will be shown crying on the telecast during his performance.

As is tradition, you can also find odds on the coin toss.

Once the game begins, you can wager on the temperature in New Orleans at the time of kickoff.

In-game, there are a few oddities you can find odds for, including if someone will hit a field goal or extra point off of the uprights, or if there’s a mid-game power outage like there was in the same venue back at Super Bowl XLVII in 2013.

  • National anthem length (over/under 120.5 seconds)
  • Final note length (over/under set at 3.5 seconds)
  • Kickoff temperature: (16 – 20.9° C currently the best odds at +108)

Halftime show bets

But perhaps the most involved category of prop bets for this year’s game is around the highly anticipated halftime show by Kendrick Lamar.

You can find odds for Lamar’s choice for his first song, last song, the total number of songs, and whether he’s wearing a hoodie for his first song.

Of course, there are a few odds about his ongoing feud with Drake, as you can bet on how many diss tracks Lamar will sing about his arch-nemesis, how many times he’ll sing “Not Like Us,” and, conversely, if Drake will release a song on Super Bowl Sunday. You can even bet that Drake himself will appear on stage, as well as a host of other celebrity guests including Lil Wayne, Future, Travis Scott, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Jay-Z.

  • Drake appearing at the halftime show (+3500)
  • Kendrick Lamar’s first song (“Humble” currently has the best odds at +160)
  • Kendrick Lamar’s last song (“All the Stars” currently has the best odds at +210)
  • Total number of songs (Over/under set at 10.5, according to the number of songs as recorded by setlist.fm)

Taylor Swift bets

For the Swifties watching, there’s another big bet you can place: if her boyfriend and Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce will propose to her following the game.

But Travis isn’t the only Kelce brother with a novelty bet, with former Eagles center Jason having odds for what his outfit will look like on Sunday.

  • Will Travis Kelce propose to Taylor Swift after the game? (+750 for yes, -1500 for no)
  • Jason Kelce’s outfit: neutral (+164), supporting Philadelphia (-146), or supporting Kansas City (+430)

What colour Gatorade will be poured on the coach?

Once the game is over, there are a few more bets to try to cash, with the total number of Canadian viewers and who the MVP thanks first in his acceptance speech also up for wagers.

To close it out, there’s perhaps the most classic Super Bowl prop bet of all: the colour of the first Gatorade poured on the winning team’s head coach (purple is favoured at +210), a long-standing tradition to winners of big football games.

  • Winning Gatorade colour: purple (+210), yellow/lime or green (+220), orange (+440), blue (+700), red/pink (+800), water/clear (+1000).
