A weird incident that occurred in the Metrotown parking lot yesterday morning has many folks baffled.
A witness who was at the scene shared pictures of the incident with a Metro Vancouver Facebook driving group.
Daily Hive connected with her, and here’s what we know.
According to Meghan Gregory, the incident occurred in one of the underground Metrotown parking lots on Tuesday morning just before noon.
“I was amazed,” she told Daily Hive.
“When I got there, no one was around. Security came and was confused.”
She went shopping for about an hour and returned to see the area taped off. She said the driver of the vehicle was at the scene with a bunch of groceries, talking like it was a casual event.
When Gregory encountered the scene, she said in her Facebook post that the vehicle’s airbag was deployed.
Pictures highlight just how much space the Chevrolet Equinox was taking up.
Parking in the underground areas of the popular Burnaby mall can be a headache at the best of times, so we can only imagine what other drivers were going through trying to navigate around this vehicle.
Some people who responded to the pictures assumed it was a medical emergency; however, based on what Gregory observed, that wasn’t the case, considering that the driver returned with groceries in hand.
Others were amazed by the allegation that they still went shopping after the incident had occurred.
One comment said, “She still went grocery shopping?!”
“Gotta love Metrotown parkade customers. No wonder they’re trying to ban cars these days,” said another comment.
We contacted Metrotown‘s security department, which forwarded us to the mall administration. We’ve left a message with the Metrotown administration team and Metrotown’s media relations department for an official account of what happened.
