If you’re just starting out and on the hunt for a new job, 15 BC companies just made it on the list of Canada’s top employers for young people.
The ranking, first published by The Globe and Mail in 2000, is an editorial competition organized by Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
To make it onto the list, organizations are evaluated by editors of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People based on programs they have to attract and retain younger workers. Key benefits include tuition assistance, the availability of co-op or work-study programs, mentorship, and training programs.
Any employer in the private or public sector is invited to apply and is reviewed for career development initiatives that help young people advance and determine their career paths.
The list showed some serious love for BC, with 11 Vancouver-based companies, two from Victoria, and two in Burnaby being named to the list.
Some highlights of the local companies selected to Canada’s Top Employers for Young People list include BC Hydro for its one-year pre-apprentice powerline technician program, and Teck Resources Limited, which supports a formal Student Experience Committee.
Visier Inc. was spotlighted for its paid internships for undergraduate, master’s and PhD students, as was the BC Public Service for organizing Co-op to Career networking roundtables for students.
