The BC RCMP is investigating a suspicious death after a body was found lying in a remote creek east of Penticton over the weekend.
Mounties say the Kelowna RCMP was called to 201 Forest Service Road, southwest of Big White, where the deceased person was found Saturday afternoon.
“We can confirm it is being investigated as a homicide,” said Corp. James Grandy in a statement Monday. “The investigation is in its preliminary stages, with no identified risk to the public.”
Mounties say the BC Coroners Service has been called in to help identify the victim, and the Southeast District RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.
Police are now asking anyone with information about the case, or anyone who may have been on the 201 within the past two weeks, to call the RCMP tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
