The Monkey, a horror film coming out this winter based on the Stephen King short story, features a child actor from Vancouver.
Christian Convery, a 15-year-old rising star with dozens of TV and movie credits, plays twins in the film, which was written and directed by Osgood Perkins.
If the tagline for The Monkey is any indication, Convery and the audience are in for a spine-chilling time:
“Everybody dies and that’s fu**ed up.”
The Los Angeles-born Convery stars as young Hal and Bill, twins who find their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, which seemingly causes a series of grotesque deaths to start happening all around them.
Hal and Bill throw the monkey away and try to move on, but when the mysterious deaths begin again when they are older, they are forced to come together to destroy the monkey before it is too late.
The bloody teaser trailer for the Vancouver-shot film features several scenes including Convery, including a scene where he utters, “Holy sh**.”
A new trailer is set to be released on Wednesday, with the Motion Picture Association already rating the film Rated R for bloody and violent content, gore, language throughout, and some sexual references.
“Glad I got to be a part of this absolutely incredible and wild movie,” wrote Convery on Instagram.
Aside from The Monkey, Convery has starred in Sweet Tooth, Venom, Cocaine Bear and Playing With Fire which also starred John Cena and Keegan-Michael Key.
He’s also appeared on Supernatural, Pup Academy, and Descendants 3.
