Some good news on the injury front for the Vancouver Canucks regarding Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson.
Both players have been out since the Christmas break, but it sounds like they could each return to the lineup soon.
“They’re getting close,” head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters at Rogers Arena this morning. “Petey’s been skating and Quinn [has too] quite a bit. So we’ll see how that goes.”
Tocchet confirmed that both players will travel with the team on their upcoming five-game eastern road trip that begins Monday in Montreal. That’s clearly a great sign.
It’s been five days since Tocchet described Pettersson as being “probably a week away.” He called Hughes “week-to-week.”
Injuries in the NHL are often treated as top-secret information, but Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday that the injuries to Pettersson and Hughes are “not considered serious.”
Silovs called up for Demko
Arturs Silovs has been called up from Abbotsford, where he’ll back up Kevin Lankinen in tonight’s home game against the Nashville Predators.
Thatcher Demko left Thursday’s game with an injury, but it’s not related to his knee. The hope is that he won’t be out of the lineup for long.
