Police in New Westminster say one man is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman who came to his home for a job interview.
The woman responded to a Facebook post looking for a housekeeper and came to the man’s home in the 800 block of Ontario Street for a job interview in early December. But shortly after completing the interview, the man allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The incident at the man’s home is the fourth sexual assault complaint against him. It follows three reports coming out of his workplace in a neighbouring Metro Vancouver city.
Mark Anthony Bernardo is facing four counts of sexual assault in light of the complaints. He was arrested but later released with court-ordered conditions.
“We encourage anyone with information or concerns to come forward,” Sgt. Andrew Leaver said in a news release. “We understand the challenges victims face in reporting such incidents and want to reassure the public that we take these matters very seriously and resources and support are available.”
Anyone with more information about what happened or who may have been a victim of a similar offence is asked to contact the New Westminster Police Department Major Crime Unit at 604-529-2430.
