Over 184,000 Stanley cups recalled across Canada

If you use Stanley cups, yours might be a part of a massive recall across Canada.

Health Canada issued a recall notice on Thursday for certain Stanley travel mugs due to burn hazards.

“The threads on affected lids of the travel mug can shrink when exposed to heat and torque which can cause the lids to unexpectedly detach from the mug during use, posing a risk of burn injury to consumers,” reads the notice.

As of December 12, Stanley received three reports of incidents and one reported burn injury in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 16 reports of incidents and two reports of burn injuries.

The Stanley cups in question are the “Switchback” and “Trigger Action” Travel Mugs with a plastic black lid sold in a variety of colours in 12 oz, 16 oz, and 20 oz sizes.

To find out if any of your Stanley cups are a part of the recall, the company says to look at the base of your items and confirm if any of the product identification numbers match.
