A suspect has been charged in relation to a triple stabbing in New Westminster in October.
The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) says it responded to a 911 call about a stabbing just before 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at a restaurant inside the Starlight Casino.
Three people suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed. Police say the victims were given first aid at the scene and then taken to hospital.
“Police learned that an altercation took place between two groups of people on the patio of the restaurant inside the Starlight Casino,” police said in a news release.
“Two groups of people who were not known to each other … became involved in a fight with edged weapons.”
Police say one suspect was arrested at the scene. At the time, they said they were working to identify more suspects.
In an update Wednesday, the NWPD says one suspect has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
The suspect was released on “strict conditions” until the next court appearance, scheduled for Dec. 18.
