Former NHLer Paul Bissonnette is making headlines after being hospitalized following an assault by a group of men on Sunday night. Now, the popular podcast host and NHL analyst has his sights set on getting revenge.
Bissonnette, 39, took to Spittin’ Chiclets on Tuesday to address the violent incident, which took place at a Houston’s restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona. With fans expressing concern over his condition, he used a large portion of the episode to fill them in on what transpired.
According to Bissonnette, things escalated when he approached a group of intoxicated golfers who had been harassing the bar’s staff. After issuing a warning to the seven patrons, he was suddenly attacked.
“The minute [the warning] left my mouth, the guy beside him starts throwing punches, and then next thing you know, there’s four [other] guys swinging at me,” he told co-host Ryan Whitney and guest Jeff Marek. “My shirt gets ripped off, and as I’m kind of getting pushed out towards where the main door is, still swinging.”
The fight didn’t end there, though. It spilled into the street, where things only got worse.
“I ate three kicks, one in the neck, two in the head,” he continued. “I was able to get up, and now at this point, I have no shoes on. I got my pants, no shirt, and I finally am able to run to the CVS. And then they didn’t come in the CVS.”
Fortunately, police arrived shortly after, arresting five of the men involved in the altercation, which lasted about three and a half minutes.

“Thankfully, the cops were called right away while the thing was going on in Houston’s, and by the time the altercation was done, they were able to book five of these guys,” Bissonnette explained.
While the ex-NHL enforcer is grateful for the quick response from the authorities, he’s not close to forgiving his attackers.
“I’m gonna do what I can to ruin these guys’ lives. They’re f*cking *ssholes. And I kind of want my vengeance at this point,” he said. “I would be willing to waive every single charge if I could go behind a fucking barn somewhere and go one vs. one with every f*cking guy, one after the other.”
Still, the Welland, Ontario, native, who is now in stable condition, has no regrets about defending the staff of the establishment he frequents.
“Maybe I bit off a little bit more than I could chew, but I wouldn’t have changed one thing about what I ended up doing.”
