A new list has named some of the best and coziest cabin retreats to book on Airbnb this winter, and two of them are right here in Canada.
Condé Nast Traveler has just released a list of the 31 most romantic cabin getaways in North America. While you could probably escape winter and book a trip south or someplace warm, the colder season certainly has its charms.
“Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary or just looking for an excuse to spend a weekend away, these rental homes are the ideal backdrop to your romantic cabin getaway,” reads the list.
These are the two top Airbnbs you can rent from a chalet to a cabin for an unforgettable winter escape.
Blaeberry, BC
This cabin has been featured in a magazine before: in January 2021, it was featured in Vogue, so you already know you’re in for something unique.
Located on the Blaeberry River near Banff and the town of Golden, BC, it doesn’t get more picture-perfect than this cabin surrounded by five national parks. It sleeps eight guests and features two full bathrooms, two bedrooms with queen beds and a sleeping loft.
“This is a true modern Canadian Rockies experience,” reads the description on Airbnb.
The aesthetic is Scandinavian and ultra-modern, with several cozy touches, such as a wood-burning fireplace that’s the focal point of the living room, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a 180-degree view of the forest, mountain, and river.
Although the space offers the ultimate escape from the surrounding wilderness, it’s only a 20-minute drive from the town of Golden. In warmer months, you can go hiking, whitewater rafting, and canoeing, while in winter, you can go skiing. If you’re looking to unplug from daily life, it’s the best place to do so, as cell phone and wifi connection here can be somewhat spotty.
This cabin is a clear guest favourite, with nearly 300 reviews and a 4.92-star rating.
The cabin is available for $412 per night and can be booked for at least two nights.
Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, Quebec
This charming chalet just 30 minutes from Montreal has everything you’ll need for a secluded winter getaway.
Located in a cul-de-sac by a mountainside, this Scandinavian-style chalet comfortably sleeps four but can accommodate up to six people. It has three bedrooms, a loft, and one bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you’ll need to cook a feast. You’ll also have easy access to fresh eggs with a henhouse onsite.
The chalet features a wood-burning fireplace, though you must bring your own firewood. There’s also a hot tub on the deck; nearby, you’ll find a picturesque stream and river. During the summer, you can go hiking or kayaking, while in winter, you can explore the snowy trails with two pairs of snowshoes included in your booking.
This place is a clear favourite among guests, with 274 reviews and a 4.96-star rating. If you’re in dire need of an escape, this chalet is the perfect choice. It costs $297 per night and can be booked for a minimum of two nights.
