Edmonton woman wanted Canada-wide in B.C. drive-thru road rage assault

An Edmonton woman is wanted Canada-wide in connection with a road rage and assault incident in Mission, B.C., in September that seriously injured two people.

The Alberta RCMP says Amber Jenelle Toews, 35, has been known to travel around British Columbia and other western provinces. “There is no confirmation that Amber has returned to Alberta,” Mounties said in a news release Tuesday.

Police say two young adults – a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman – were seriously injured during the road rage incident that allegedly escalated into an assault with a baseball bat on Sept. 8 around 10 a.m.

The RCMP says it began when the victims honked at a vehicle in front of them that was not moving forward at a Tim Hortons drive-thru in Mission. Police allege that led to a coffee cup being thrown at the victims’ vehicle, followed by an assault.

The victims needed to be hospitalized with “significant but non-life-threatening injuries.”

A second suspect in that incident, 38-year-old Johnathan Hebrada-Walters, was also wanted by police. Authorities say Hebrada-Walters was killed in Langley, B.C., on Sept. 21. His death is believed to be related to the B.C. gang conflict.

“There is not believed to be any connection between the road rage incident and the homicide of Hebrada-Walters,” Mounties say.

Toews has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and mischief under $5,000. Police are urging anyone who sees her to call 911.
