Score! Own a piece of the world’s largest hockey stick from Duncan

In a bittersweet turn of events, Duncan’s world’s largest hockey stick, which famously towered over the Cowichan Community Centre for more than 35 years, has been dismantled, but collectors can now purchase unique collectibles made from its remnants at Maxwell’s Auto Center.

Constructed for Expo ’86 in Vancouver, the over 200-foot-long wooden stick and its accompanying puck have captivated visitors and locals alike. However, after falling into disrepair, the structure was deemed beyond affordable torepair, with estimates reaching up to $1.5 million.

Maxwell’s Autoparts and Genuine Collectibles have stepped in to ensure that pieces of this iconic landmark can continue to be cherished. Now, collectibles are available both online and in-store (which are now sold out), and pre-orders are being prioritized for those on a waitlist.

Items can be picked up or shipped (for an extra fee), but customers on the waitlist must finalize their orders by November 12 at 4 pm, or any unclaimed items will return to inventory.

The now-sold-out first run of the collectibles featured keychain mementos that were going for $17.86.

As pieces of the world’s largest hockey stick find their way into homes across British Columbia and beyond, fans can celebrate a unique chapter in local sports history while adding a special item to their collections.
