Sad news, Vancouver: you only have a shot time left with the much-loved Remi Patisserie.
The pastry shop announced on Instagram that it plans to close its doors in 2025.
“It has been already four years. It went by fast. From working for someone and living almost paycheque to paycheque to having a little taste of financial freedom,” shared owner Remi Ho on Instagram. “Not to brag but having my own business has really worked out for me. I now own two properties and one of them is this bakery.”
Remi Patisserie opened its doors on October 8, 2020, but had been operating as a pop-up before then. The spot is best known for its hand-crafted desserts inspired by Ho’s Chinese heritage and birthplace, French Guiana.
“I have grown so much after being an entrepreneur. I had to survive so many hardships because of the new responsibilities that come with owning and operating your business. And I learned so much about managing money. There are plenty more lessons I have learned from operating my business. The learning is endless.”
However, Ho did end his post with a helpful push to those wanting to start their own business.
“If you feel miserable working for someone, want to do something of your own and start your business, then do it now. Make a tangible plan, and work on it NOW. It will be harder than anything you have done, but you will learn so much. You will grow wiser and you will become better at it. With time, things will get easier,” he said.
He concluded that the “stepping stone bakery” was for sale and that if anyone is interested, to send him an email at [email protected].
An official closing date has yet to be announced for Remi Patisserie.
