CBC British Columbia wins 7 Canadian local news RTDNA awards

CBC British Columbia earned seven Radio, Television and Digital News Association (RTDNA) awards for Canadian local news on Saturday night. 

The awards, which were established in 1966 according to the RTDNA Canada website, recognize excellence in journalism across the country. 

The national wins come after CBC B.C. won 21 awards for the West region in September. Those winners were then submitted to the Canadian awards, competing against the best journalism nationwide.

“It’s wonderful to see our B.C. journalists recognized by news leaders in Canada,” said Shiral Tobin, director of journalism and programming for CBC British Columbia.

“Local news connects communities and creates greater understanding of each other. We’re so proud of the work our team does to elevate the voices and perspectives of British Columbians in our journalism every day.”
