An Abbotsford middle school teacher has lost his teaching certificate after he pleaded guilty to assault and sexual assault charges against an intimate partner.
Documents released Wednesday from the B.C. Commissioner for Teacher Regulation show Khaled Hanafi Dardir was handed two years probation for the crimes, which happened between September, 2020 and April, 2021.
Dardir was charged in July, 2021 with two counts of assault and one count of sexual assault. In August that year, he was suspended from teaching, and the Commissioner ordered an investigation shortly thereafter.
He pleaded guilty to all three counts in April last year. The documents show “Dardir’s crimes were against an intimate partner.”
He was later issued a two-year probation and discharged on certain conditions, including a 100-metre restraining order from the victim.
Records show Dardir was disciplined by the school district in Abbotsford before for harassment and sexual harassment of a colleague in June 2020. At the time, he was suspended for three days without pay and forced to complete remedial education.
In May this year, he agreed with the Commissioner on the cancellation of his teaching certificate and qualifications.
The agreement claims that his criminal offences undermine the confidence of the public in the education system.
