Surrey RCMP investigating after pedestrian hit in Cloverdale

Police in Surrey say a pedestrian was sent to hospital with serious injuries Monday night after being hit by a sedan being driven in the city’s Cloverdale neighbourhood.

The Surrey RCMP says the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. when officers received word that the pedestrian had been struck near 188 Street and 60 Avenue.

“When officers arrived on scene they located a male pedestrian who was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The vehicle involved, an Audi Q3, remained on scene,” Sgt. Tammy Lobb explained on Tuesday.

Police believe alcohol is a contributing factor in the incident. The driver was arrested at the scene for dangerous driving causing bodily harm and was handed a 24-hour driving ban.

Police say the driver was released without charges pending further investigation. Their Audi A3 remains impounded, police add.
