Man arrested driving with 73 kg of cocaine near Sicamous: Highway Patrol

A man has been arrested after he was pulled over in a police roadblock near Sicamous and officers found approximately 73 kilograms of cocaine in his vehicle.

The BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) and Sicamous RCMP say the arrest happened along Highway 1 near Malakwa on Oct. 8.

Police say the driver will not be identified, but say a 28-year-old man was arrested and his vehicle was seized.

The BCHP says he was driving alone.

“The preliminary investigation would suggest that this has all the earmarks of organized crime,” said Insp. Lori Orstad.

Police say the driver has been released on certain conditions and is scheduled to appear in court.
