Police in Maple Ridge are investigating after one person was bear sprayed and another was shot Monday night.
The Ridge Meadows RCMP says it responded to reports of a person “in distress” around 10:30 p.m. near Camwood Avenue and 207 Street.
Officers reportedly found a person who had been hit with bear spray and sustained “additional superficial injuries.”
The investigation, police say, led officers to a residence down the street where they found the victim of an apparent shooting.
“Members administered first aid until BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) arrived. The injuries were non-life threatening and the victim was released later the same day,” Mounties said.
The RCMP says it believes the incident was targeted and there is no threat to public safety. Mounties say the investigation is ongoing.
