North Vancouver woman dies in Saskatchewan highway crash

Police in Saskatchewan say a North Vancouver woman is dead after a collision with a semi truck Friday night.

Mounties say they received reports of a crash just before 9 p.m. local time on Highway 16, nearly two kilometres north of Dafoe, Sask.

Emergency crews arrived to find a semi and a passenger truck had collided. Police say paramedics declared the sole occupant of the passenger vehicle, a 53-year-old woman, dead at the scene.

She was identified as a woman from North Vancouver, and police say her family has been notified.

“The driver of the semi was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening,” Wynyard RCMP said.

Mounties say the investigation, working with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, is ongoing.
