One person seriously injured in accident on Sea to Sky Highway: BCEHS

One person was taken to hospital in serious condition after an accident on the Sea to Sky Highway near Squamish Friday afternoon, BC Emergency Health Services says.

The service was called out to the incident, which was on Highway 99 northbound near the Stawamus Chief, just after 2 p.m.

“Two ground ambulances and one air ambulance were dispatched,” BCEHS tells CityNews.

Drive BC says the highway had been fully blocked in both directions, but as of just after 6 p.m., it has reopened to a single lane in each direction between just south of the Chief Parking Lot and Mamquam Forest Service Road.

“Lane closures in both directions in effect,” DriveBC said on its website. “Watch for traffic control.”

Const. Brett Urano of the BC RCMP tells CityNews the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been sent out to investigate.
