A woman has died as a result of a stabbing in Surrey earlier this month, police say.
The Surrey RCMP says a woman was sent to hospital unconscious after being stabbed in the early morning on Sept. 8.
Police were called around 2 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the area of King George Boulevard and 108 Avenue. When they arrived, they found a woman who was unconscious and covered in blood. It was then that they determined she hadn’t been involved in a motor vehicle accident, but had been the victim of a stabbing.
That day, police said a possible suspect had been found and taken into custody.
A 36-year-old woman has since been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
In a release Monday, Mounties announced that the victim had died.
“Sadly, the victim of the stabbing … has succumbed to her injuries.”
Police say the suspect has been remanded until her next court appearance.
