RCMP investigate suspected homicide in Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island

RCMP on Vancouver Island say a person previously reported missing is now believed to be the victim of a homicide.

On Tuesday, Mounties say Tavis Cragg was reported missing from Nanaimo, B.C., At about 11 p.m. Police say they went to a property in the 7900 block of Cowichan Lake Road, about 65 kilometres northwest of Victoria, looking for Cragg.

There, police say they found Cragg dead.

The RCMP’s Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has identified a suspect, who police say has met with investigators.

Police said the investigation is still in its early stages, but they believe Cragg’s death was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the public. No further information is being released.

Police are asking anyone who may have information to contact the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit.
