William Street reopens after crews clear heavy smoke from residential building

A portion of William Street in Vancouver has reopened after firefighters responded to reports heavy smoke in a residential building between Clark Drive and McLean Drive.

“There was no fire when crews got there,” said Captain Matt Trudeau with Vancouver Fire Rescue Services.

He says the cause of the smoke may have been a mechanical issue in the lower floors of the building. Whatever it was, he says, dissipated by itself, and crews are now working with the building operator to prevent it from happening again.
