A reward is now being offered for any information about a dog attack near Second Beach in Stanley Park earlier this month.
The owner of a small dog that was allegedly mauled to death by a larger dog is offering cash to anyone who can help them identify the bigger dog’s owner.
The attack happened on Aug. 5 around 5:30 p.m. Despite footage and pictures taken by the family and bystanders after the attack, the owner of the bigger dog fled the scene.
It’s not clear how much the reward is worth but an online fundraiser called “Justice for Sky” has a goal of $10,000 to cover the reward and legal fees.
“The family consisting of 3 young children witnessed the whole brutal attack ending with Sky lying lifeless after the larger dog finally released her. No one should ever have to experience trauma like this, let alone children,” the fundraiser’s organizer shared.
The family is now pushing for the city to change its “by-laws and regulations to better protect civilians from possible future dog attacks that is 100% preventable.”
As of early Monday morning, the GoFundMe had raised just over $4,300.
