Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson came from a set down to win their women’s beach volleyball semifinal match in Paris on Thursday and have earned a berth to the Olympic final.
The Toronto duo defeated Switzerland’s Nina Brunner and Tanja Hueberli at Eiffel Tower Stadium, winning the second set to force a tiebreak, which they also won.
Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson will be the first Canadian women’s beach volleyball team to play for an Olympic medal when they go for gold on Friday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Brazil’s Ana Patricia Silva Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa face Australia’s Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy in the other semifinal on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET.
