Canada’s Alysha Newman posted a Canadian record en route to capturing the Olympic women’s pole vault bronze medal at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, north of Paris, on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Delaware, Ont., native’s 4.85-metre attempt was only bested by gold medallist Nina Kennedy of Australia and American Katie Moon, who took silver.
