Vigil held for motorcyclist who died after crash involving fire truck

A vigil was held Saturday in honour of Ryan Sabet, the motorcyclist who died after a crash involving a fire truck that forced the closure of the Stanley Park causeway last week.

Saturday marks exactly one week since the accident happened.

Sabet’s father, Mehdi Sabet, says Ryan had recently graduated from high school and was full of life and ambition.

“Losing him is going to be a huge impact for all the community,” he told CityNews.

Ryan was heading to his volunteer job when the crash happened, his family says.

The VPD says the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

In a statement to CityNews, Vancouver Fire says they extend their sympathies to Sabet’s friends, family, and loved ones, and they trust the VPD investigation will give them the answers they need.
