A man is dead after he was hit by a train in Surrey Friday morning.
The RCMP says officers were called to the railway tracks in the area of 104 Avenue and 124A Street just before 7:30 a.m.
Mounties say they were notified by the Southern Railway of British Columbia about “a train collision involving a pedestrian.”
First responders tried to help the man but he succumbed to his injuries.
The Surrey RCMP says it’s still “very early in the investigation,” adding the BC Coroner’s Service is also investigating the incident.
“As with any sudden death investigation, police will be speaking with people who may have information regarding the victim and his recent movements to determine the events that led up to this incident,” said Sgt. Tammy Lobb.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen the collision or anyone who has information about the moments before the man was hit to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-109462.
