Police say they have identified the suspect in the theft of handmade bracelets taken from a child in Langford last week.
On July 17, the suspect stole around 40 bracelets from the porch of a house on Lakehurst Drive, the West Shore RCMP said earlier this week.
Mounties say the female suspect was shown in surveillance video that captured the theft, showing the woman approach the home and appear to dump the jewelry into her bag and walk away.
The stolen items were made by an 11-year-old girl using gemstones and had a total value around $600. The girl had the items on display for sale outside her home.
“The girl and her parent went inside their residence for a few minutes and came back out to discover the majority of the bracelets on display had been stolen,” police said in a news release.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
