Fire crews kept busy fighting multiple incidents in Vancouver

Fire crews in Vancouver were kept very busy fighting multiple fires Monday.

They were called to a mixed-use building fire along Franklin Street in the afternoon.

Captain Matthew Trudeau with the Vancouver Fire Rescue Services says no injuries were reported in that incident.

Trudeau says another fire in a house was also reported between Cypress Street and Arbutus Street on West 16th Avenue.

“Crews are getting water on the fire right now, and I’m still waiting for updates about the extent of the damage,” he said.

He says this is a developing fire and no injuries have been reported yet.

He says the two blocks surrounding the West 16th Avenue fire will be restricted for some time.

On average, Trudeau says fire crews typically respond to 15 calls per day that result in “significant” damage.

He says, on Monday, about 27 incidents were reported.

This is a developing story. More to come.
